Béssa Beauty Launches Scalp Care Brand

Béssa Beauty, a new brand focused on scalp health and hair vitality, launched in March 2026. Founded by Vanessa Ocando, a hairstylist, licensed cosmetologist, and board-certified trichologist with over two decades of industry experience, the brand aims to provide solutions for thinning hair.

Béssa Beauty emphasizes biocompatible, high-performance biotech and botanical ingredients. Its formulations feature elements such as ginger root extract and a clinical-grade Copper Peptide Complex, which combines copper tripeptide and hexapeptide.

These ingredients are selected to help restore scalp balance, protect its barrier, and support long-term hair vitality without causing heaviness, residue, or irritation. The initial product line includes three SKUs: the Cooling Scalp Serum ($38), the Pre-Wash Conditioner ($36), and the Best of Duo ($74).

Addressing a Growing Hair Loss Market

The launch positions Béssa Beauty within a growing segment of the beauty market. According to market research firm Mordor Intelligence, the North American hair loss treatment market was valued at $1.1 billion in 2025. This market is projected to expand to $1.6 billion by 2031, demonstrating a compound annual growth rate of 7.2 percent between 2026 and 2031.

Ocando's decision to develop her own brand stems from her extensive professional experience helping clients conceal thinning hair, as well as personal insights from her mother's lifelong experience with alopecia. Her background as a trichologist provided a deep understanding of the emotional impact of hair loss and the need for effective, specialized solutions.

Education and Future Expansion

A core tenet of Béssa Beauty's strategy involves consumer education. Recognizing that many consumers find the array of available products and information overwhelming, the brand offers a 10-minute consultation on its website. This service provides personalized advice for haircare routines.

Furthermore, Béssa Beauty is developing educational content for platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. These efforts focus on ingredient transparency, proper product usage, and the scientific principles behind effective hair and scalp care. Looking ahead, Ocando plans to broaden Béssa Beauty's product range with additional treatment-focused SKUs.

She also intends to pursue partnerships with salons and beauty retailers, including Ulta Beauty, to increase product accessibility. Ocando has expressed ambitions for Béssa Beauty to achieve a scale comparable to established brands like Oribe and Estée Lauder.

Implications for Asia's Beauty Sector

The growth of specialized scalp care brands like Béssa Beauty in North America signals evolving consumer priorities that may resonate across Asia's beauty economy. Asian consumers increasingly seek targeted solutions for hair and scalp health, driving demand for innovative ingredients and transparent product claims.

For Asian ingredient suppliers, this trend could open new opportunities for biotech and botanical extracts that support scalp barrier function or hair vitality. Brands in markets such as South Korea and Japan, already known for their sophisticated haircare offerings, might find a competitive edge in developing similar high-performance, education-centric lines.

Retailers in Southeast Asia and India could also anticipate a rise in demand for premium scalp treatment products, influencing their sourcing and merchandising strategies.
