Netflix Series Drives New Brand Engagements

The global reach of Netflix’s reality series "America's Sweethearts" has significantly expanded the audience for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCCs), leading to new commercial partnerships. Sally Beauty has announced its first professional football alliance, making it the official beauty retailer for both the Dallas Cowboys and the DCCs.

Concurrently, Abercrombie & Fitch has broadened its existing apparel agreement with the team and cheerleaders. The Netflix show's first season garnered 2.3 million global views within its initial four days, increasing to 3.7 million by the following week.

Season three, which premiered in June 2026, secured the No. 4 spot on Netflix's global English-language TV chart, drawing 3.2 million views in its first six days.

Sally Beauty Targets Broader Consumer Base

Sally Beauty's partnership aims to leverage the DCCs' visibility to change its market perception and acquire new customers. The retailer plans to utilize the cheerleaders' content, public appearances, and product demonstrations to teach consumers how to replicate their game-day hair and nail styles.

This collaboration will also promote Sally Beauty's expanding range of men's hair-care products. Chris Kobus, Sally Beauty’s chief marketing officer, stated that this initiative aligns with the retailer's broader transformation strategy, seeking to introduce Sally Beauty to consumers who may still perceive it primarily as a professional hair-care supplier.

Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail, noted that Sally Beauty must actively create the impression that it is a destination for diverse beauty categories to attract new shoppers.

NFL's Growing Beauty and Fashion Sponsorships

The increased exposure for the DCCs highlights a broader trend in sports marketing. According to SponsorUnited, fashion and beauty sponsorship spending across the National Football League (NFL) grew by 16.9% year-over-year, reaching $58 million during the 2025–2026 season. The number of such deals also increased by 11.7% to 105.

Excluding venue naming-rights agreements, the Dallas Cowboys led all NFL teams in both the number and revenue of fashion and beauty deals, securing over $8 million in category sponsorship spending in 2025.

The DCCs, specifically, offer a distinct entry point for brands, connecting with consumers interested in beauty, fashion, dance, and reality television, beyond the traditional football audience. They also have more Instagram followers than 12 NFL teams.

Implications for Asia's Beauty Brand Partnerships

This trend of sports entities, particularly those with a strong lifestyle and entertainment appeal like the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, becoming significant platforms for beauty brands offers a blueprint for Asian companies.

Brands in Asia can explore similar strategies by identifying non-traditional influencers or cultural phenomena that gain global traction through digital content platforms. The goal is to move beyond mere sponsorship to direct commerce, engaging consumers within the brand's retail ecosystem.

Asian beauty brands can seek out partnerships that provide authentic connections to specific consumer segments, focusing on content that demonstrates product use for niche styles or routines. This approach can help expand market reach and diversify customer acquisition beyond traditional beauty channels.
