Next Generation Packaging Talent Recognized

Paris Packaging Week has announced its 2027 Future Leaders cohort, recognizing ten young professionals for their significant contributions to the packaging industry. These individuals, hailing from eight countries across Europe, Africa, and North America, will be celebrated at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on February 3 and 4, 2027.

The annual program spotlights achievements in areas such as materials development, luxury design, advanced manufacturing techniques, and entrepreneurial ventures within the packaging sector.

Innovations Impacting Beauty and Personal Care

Several honorees have already delivered notable results, particularly in beauty and personal care packaging. Rica Hakim, a Product Development Chemist at PPG Industries in Germany, contributed to the development of two BPA-NI internal coatings for personal care packaging, including water-based alternatives, anticipating upcoming EU regulatory changes.

Eloise Masquelier, a Material Science Expert at Albéa in France, leads the qualification of recycled resins for Albéa Cosmetics & Fragrance.

In design, Rania Elqadah of IDP Direct in the United States created the structural design for the Maison Margiela Tabi Collector Box, while Anja Macan of Macan in Croatia developed Señor’s Fussnota perfume packaging, which combines specialized print finishes with a unique opening mechanism.

Dhruvi Thakkar, founder of Sleeve Office Ltd in the United Kingdom, has optimized packaging workflows for major FMCG and beauty brands, including Unilever.

Industry Judges Praise Tangible Achievements

The selection process for the 2027 cohort involved a judging panel of industry leaders. This panel included Katarzyna Wisniewska, Head of CSR for EME at Sephora, Louis Marty, founder of Merci Handy, and Marion Quesson, Senior Art Director at Sowine.

Louis Marty noted that the defining quality of this year's class is their ability to translate ambition into concrete achievements, tackling challenges from new material development to building successful businesses. Katarzyna Wisniewska highlighted the diversity of talent, showing that transformation can occur at any level of the value chain and across companies of all sizes.

Asia's Packaging Sector to Watch New Standards

While the 2027 Future Leaders are based outside Asia, their innovations set new benchmarks for global packaging. Asian beauty brands and their manufacturing partners, particularly OEMs and ODMs, should observe these developments closely.

The focus on sustainable materials like recycled resins and water-based coatings, alongside advancements in luxury design and manufacturing efficiency, signals evolving industry expectations.

Asian suppliers capable of offering similar sophisticated and eco-conscious solutions may see increased demand from international and domestic beauty companies seeking to align with these global standards. This trend could accelerate investments in advanced R&D and sustainable production capabilities across Asia's packaging supply chain.
