YouTube Adds Amazon Products for Creator Commerce, Boosts Asia Reach

Amazon Joins YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program

YouTube has partnered with Amazon to integrate products from the e-commerce platform into its Shopping program. This collaboration enables eligible YouTube creators to tag Amazon products directly within their videos and livestreams. Viewers can then click these tags to purchase items, with creators earning commissions from resulting sales.

Amazon joins existing retail partners like Sephora and Walmart within YouTube's affiliate structure. This move strengthens YouTube’s focus on creator-led commerce, a strategy it employs to secure a larger share of online retail and beauty product engagement.

Growth and Market Expansion

YouTube Shopping has expanded its reach beyond the United States, now operating in markets including the United Kingdom, India, Brazil, Mexico, and parts of Southeast Asia. The platform reported a thirteen-fold increase in global gross merchandise volume (GMV) between the first quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2026.

Currently, more than one million monetizing creators participate in the program. Viewers engage with approximately 110 million hours of shopping-related content on YouTube daily. This growth demonstrates the platform's increasing role in connecting content with direct purchasing opportunities.

Implications for Asia's Beauty Economy

The integration of Amazon products into YouTube's shopping features provides beauty brands with an additional avenue to connect influencer content, product discovery, and direct sales. For brands operating or expanding in Asian markets such as India and Southeast Asia, this partnership offers a new digital storefront within a highly trafficked video platform.

It also intensifies competition among YouTube, TikTok, and other platforms vying for social commerce spending. Asian beauty brands should evaluate the costs and benefits of engaging with this new channel, considering its potential to reach consumers through creator endorsements and direct product linking.
