Amorepacific Group Reports Strong Third Quarter Results

Amorepacific Group announced a 24.7 percent increase in its third-quarter operating profit, reaching 130.1 billion won. The South Korean beauty company's consolidated revenue for the period stood at 1.21 trillion won, marking an 8.9 percent rise from the previous year. This performance also improved the group's operating margin to 10.8 percent, up from 9.4 percent last year.

The flagship subsidiary, Amorepacific, separately posted 1.13 trillion won in revenue, an 11 percent increase, and its operating profit grew by 25 percent to 115.2 billion won.

Domestic and International Market Expansion

The group's domestic revenue in Korea expanded by 11 percent to 620.5 billion won, with domestic operating profit seeing a substantial 42 percent surge to 84.6 billion won. International markets also contributed significantly, with overseas revenue increasing by 12 percent to 495.5 billion won, and operating profit growing by 14 percent to 48.5 billion won.

Dermatological skincare brand Aestura emerged as a primary growth engine, achieving a global sales increase of over 80 percent year-on-year. In Korea, Aestura's revenue rose by more than 50 percent, fueled by its Atobarrier 365 skincare line across e-commerce, multibrand stores, and medical channels.

Strategic Brand Growth and Portfolio Challenges

Aestura's international presence saw sales more than double in North America and Japan, supported by new distribution through Sephora and Amazon in the United States, and entries into European retailers like Boots in the United Kingdom and Matas in Northern Europe.

Other brands also showed strong overseas performance, including Innisfree, which recorded over 50 percent revenue growth in North America, and COSRX, which expanded its retail footprint to approximately 2,900 stores in Japan. Amorepacific's revenue in India grew by over 60 percent, driven by brands such as Laneige.

While Illiyoon’s revenue grew over 60 percent, its overseas sales increased sixfold. Haircare brands including Mise-en-scène, Ryo, and Labo-H also achieved double-digit revenue growth.

However, beauty brand subsidiaries like Innisfree, Etude, and Espoir experienced a combined revenue decline of 12 percent and a 29 percent fall in operating profit due to ongoing distribution restructuring.

Implications for Asia's Beauty Sector

Amorepacific's Q3 results highlight a strategic shift towards high-growth segments. The company stated its intention to continue expanding its international brand portfolio, with dermatological skincare, clinical skincare, and haircare identified as key focus areas for its long-term strategy.

This emphasis suggests opportunities for ingredient suppliers and OEM/ODM partners across Asia specializing in these categories. For beauty retailers, Amorepacific's expansion into new channels like Sephora, Amazon, Boots, and Matas demonstrates the importance of diversified distribution for global reach, particularly for derma-focused brands. Brands looking to enter or expand in India should note the significant growth reported by Amorepacific in that market.
