BornToStandOut Enters China Market

South Korean niche fragrance house BornToStandOut is expanding its retail operations into Mainland China through a new partnership with Shenzhen Zeying Fashion Group. This collaboration marks a significant step for the Seoul-based brand, which was established in 2022.

Shenzhen Zeying Fashion Group will manage the brand's market entry, focusing on developing BornToStandOut's presence across China's premium retail destinations and major cities. The move aims to establish a network of consumer touchpoints for the distinctive fragrance label.

BornToStandOut's Global Footprint

BornToStandOut is recognized for its unique approach to perfumery, characterized by bold scents, evocative narratives, and a striking visual identity. The brand's signature elements include red-and-white porcelain bottles and innovative fragrance compositions.

Globally, BornToStandOut maintains a substantial retail presence, operating four flagship stores in its home city of Seoul. Additionally, its products are available through over 1,000 stockists and retail partners worldwide, including prominent names like Sephora, Selfridges, Galeries Lafayette, Mecca, and Harrods.

Shenzhen Zeying Fashion Group's Role

Shenzhen Zeying Fashion Group brings over two decades of experience in fashion retail and brand management to the partnership. The group currently collaborates with more than 25 international and domestic brands, overseeing a network of over 400 directly managed stores across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau.

This new agreement will diversify Zeying's international brand portfolio by adding a fragrance specialist. The group's strategy for BornToStandOut includes comprehensive brand communications, targeted marketing campaigns, strategic retail expansion, and immersive offline consumer experiences to build market recognition.

Implications for China's Niche Fragrance Sector

This partnership highlights the continued appeal of niche fragrance brands within the Chinese market. For other international beauty brands considering entry or expansion in China, BornToStandOut's strategy demonstrates the value of local partnerships with established retail groups like Shenzhen Zeying.

Such collaborations can provide essential infrastructure and market understanding, accelerating brand development and consumer engagement in a competitive landscape. The focus on immersive offline experiences also shows a trend towards deeper physical interaction for luxury and specialty products.
