K-Beauty Giant Amorepacific Backs Junevity for Skin Longevity
Amorepacific's venture arm has invested in biotechnology firm Junevity, securing a licensing agreement to apply Junevity's RESET Platform for discovering novel skin-aging pathways in cosmetic development.

Amorepacific Invests in Biotech for Cosmetics
Amorepacific, the Korean beauty conglomerate and owner of the Laneige skincare brand, has made a strategic investment in Junevity, a biotechnology company. The investment, facilitated by Amorepacific Ventures, includes a separate licensing agreement specifically for cosmetic applications.
This collaboration aims to develop what Amorepacific describes as "next-generation" cosmetic products focused on skin rejuvenation and longevity. The move signals Amorepacific's commitment to integrating advanced scientific research into its beauty product portfolio, seeking new avenues for innovation in the competitive skincare market.
RESET Platform Targets Skin Aging Pathways
Junevity's proprietary RESET Platform forms the core of this partnership. This technology is designed to identify new pathways related to skin aging. Through the collaboration, Junevity will apply its target-discovery engine, combining it with Amorepacific's extensive knowledge in skin biology, cosmetic product development, and commercialization capabilities.
Brian Byung-Fhy SUH, Chief Technology Officer of Amorepacific's R&I Center, stated that future skin health innovations will rely on deeper research into skin aging biology, particularly the role of gene networks and transcriptional regulation in longevity. He added that Junevity's platform will allow exploration of novel pathways to advance research into longevity solutions.
Defined Roles in Product Development
Under the agreement, Amorepacific will lead the development and commercialization of cosmetic products resulting from this joint research. Junevity, conversely, will continue to advance the therapeutic applications of its platform.
The companies also plan to explore hybrid technologies by collaborating across related scientific fields, opening new possibilities for long-term skin health solutions. John Hoekman, co-founder and CEO of Junevity, expressed enthusiasm for working with Amorepacific to explore the technology's potential in skincare.
He noted that the partnership demonstrates the broad applicability of their approach and its capacity to expand into new markets, creating additional long-term value for Junevity.
K-Beauty's Longevity Science Push
This investment by Amorepacific highlights a growing trend within the K-beauty sector and the broader Asian beauty economy: a focus on longevity science. As consumers increasingly seek products that address the biological mechanisms of aging, major players like Amorepacific are investing in biotech firms to gain a scientific edge.
This strategic move could prompt other Asian beauty companies to accelerate their own research and development into gene networks and cellular longevity, potentially leading to a new wave of science-backed skincare launches across the region. The emphasis on discovering novel pathways suggests a shift towards more targeted and personalized cosmetic solutions in the coming years.
