Clinique Appoints New Marketing Head
The Estée Lauder Companies has appointed Krista Lee Berger as Senior Vice President, Global Marketing for its Clinique brand. This appointment, effective on 21 October 2026, places Berger in charge of Clinique's worldwide marketing efforts. She will report directly to Michelle Freyre, who serves as Global President for Estée Lauder's Dermatological Brands division.
This strategic move aims to enhance Clinique's brand relevance and connect with a younger demographic across international markets.
Driving Innovation and Consumer Engagement
In her new capacity, Berger will oversee Clinique's global marketing strategy, focusing on breakthrough innovation and modernizing brand communications. The company stated these efforts are intended to strengthen Clinique's cultural presence and engage a new generation of consumers worldwide.
Michelle Freyre, Global President, Dermatological Brands, stated that Berger is an inspiring leader globally recognized for transforming iconic brands into culturally relevant businesses. Freyre also noted Berger's decades of marketing experience, strong commercial acumen, creative energy, and deep respect for brand equity.
Background in Brand Transformation
Berger joins Clinique from Mattel, where she most recently held the position of Senior Vice President and Global Head for Barbie & Dolls. In that role, she directed brand strategy, product innovation, licensing, partnerships, retail, and entertainment initiatives.
Earlier in her career, Berger led the revitalization of American Girl, where she reconnected the brand with its core purpose while modernizing its narrative and reinforcing its commercial operations across pricing, distribution, and talent. Her work has earned her industry accolades, including Ad Age’s “Marketer of the Year.”
Implications for Asia's Beauty Market
This appointment signals Clinique's intensified focus on attracting younger consumers and adapting its brand message for contemporary global audiences. For Asia's beauty market, this means Clinique is likely to increase its investment in digital-first marketing campaigns and localized content strategies, particularly in high-growth markets like China and Southeast Asia.
Asian brand teams and retailers should anticipate new product developments and communication styles designed to resonate with Gen Z and millennial consumers, potentially influencing competitive strategies in the premium skincare segment across the region.
