CPL Aromas Launches RESONANCE Concept

CPL Aromas, a global fragrance house, introduced its new "RESONANCE" concept at BeautyWorld Middle East 2026 in Dubai, UAE. This initiative explores the profound connection between poetry, human emotion, and scent. The concept operates on the premise that emotions are universal, transcending language, geographical boundaries, and cultural differences.

CPL Aromas positions both poetry and perfumery as powerful forms of expression, each capable of evoking strong feelings, transporting individuals, and awakening memories. The overarching theme of RESONANCE is to unite humanity through the echoes found in poetry and fragrance.

Mapping Emotions to Olfactory Profiles

At the core of the RESONANCE exhibition is an "Emotion Wheel," which identifies six universal emotional states: Passion, Euphoria, Longing, Awe, Rage, and Nostalgia. CPL Aromas perfumers developed distinct olfactory interpretations for each of these emotions, drawing inspiration from poetic works across diverse eras and cultures.

For instance, the fragrance for Nostalgia features familiar aromatic herbs and woods, including lavender, rosemary, and vetiver. Longing is represented by softer notes such as plum, orris, jasmine, and marine accords.

Euphoria combines aromatic herbs with pomegranate, incense, and warm woods for an uplifting character, while Awe blends bright citrus and rose with spices, woods, and amber. Rage is designed with sharp, contrasting elements like saffron, metallic notes, leather, and patchouli. Passion is rich and expressive, built around red fruits, plum, rose, and amber notes.

Fragrance as a Universal Language

CPL Aromas highlights that core human emotions like love, joy, anger, and wonder are universally recognizable, even when their cultural expressions vary. The RESONANCE fragrances invite visitors to engage with the emotional content of each scent, considering what it recalls or awakens, and whether individuals from different cultural backgrounds might perceive similar feelings.

This approach reflects CPL Aromas' belief that creativity can establish common ground between cultures, forming a mosaic of perspectives united by shared humanity. The exhibition aims for participants to experience how words can evolve into emotion, and emotion into fragrance, creating a universally understood echo.

Implications for Asia's Fragrance Sector

The "RESONANCE" concept offers a framework for Asian fragrance brands and manufacturers looking to deepen emotional engagement with consumers across diverse markets. In regions such as China, Japan, and South Korea, where consumers seek unique product narratives, this approach could inspire new product development focused on specific emotional states.

Brands may explore adapting such sensory experiences for regional trade shows, tailoring cultural nuances while leveraging universal emotional appeals.

This focus on cross-cultural emotional recognition provides a strategy for developing fragrances with broader resonance and market penetration throughout Asia's varied consumer bases, potentially influencing marketing strategies and ingredient choices for new launches.
