New Digital Leadership at DFI Retail Group
DFI Retail Group appointed Kshitij Mulay as Group Chief Digital and Yuu Rewards Officer, effective September 17. Mulay will report directly to Group Chief Executive Scott Price and join the management committee. His remit covers DFI's digital operations, the Yuu Rewards loyalty platform, retail analytics, and retail media portfolios.
Mulay succeeds Wee Lee Loh, who steps down after three years with DFI to return to Singapore. Loh previously led the expansion of DFI's digital ecosystem, which now processes over 100,000 daily e-commerce orders and supports the company's broader retail media initiatives.
Mulay's Background in Beauty Retail Technology
Mulay joins DFI from Sephora Asia, where he served as Chief Information Officer. In that role, he directed digital and technology strategy, supporting e-commerce growth, omnichannel innovation, and AI-enabled customer engagement across multi-country markets.
His background includes over 25 years in international technology and digital transformation within consumer and retail businesses, including Procter & Gamble. Based in Hong Kong, Mulay's extensive experience with beauty retail technology aligns with DFI's strategic focus on digital expansion across Asia.
DFI's Operational Scale and Strategic Moves
DFI Retail Group and its associates operated 7659 outlets across 12 Asian markets as of June 30. The company employs over 81,000 staff. This broad operational footprint underscores the importance of digital leadership for DFI's regional strategy. Last month, DFI Retail Group also announced an expanded partnership with GNC.
DFI became the exclusive wholesaler, distributor, and franchisee for GNC's health and wellness products in Singapore. This move shows DFI's interest in the health and wellness segment, which often overlaps with beauty retail and digital distribution.
Implications for Asia's Beauty Industry
Mulay's appointment suggests DFI's continued investment in its digital infrastructure and loyalty programs. His background at Sephora Asia indicates a focus on integrating advanced digital capabilities, such as AI-enabled customer engagement and omnichannel strategies, into DFI's diverse retail portfolio.
For beauty brands and suppliers operating in Asia, this development means DFI may further enhance its digital channels for product distribution and consumer interaction.
Companies seeking to partner with DFI or expand their reach through its platforms should monitor these digital developments, particularly concerning e-commerce and retail media opportunities within DFI's extensive network across 12 Asian markets.
