Solabia Appoints Muriel Koch as CEO, Shifts Focus to Cosmetics
The European ingredient supplier, backed by Astorg, will divest its microbiology diagnostics division to concentrate on beauty, nutrition, and life sciences markets.

Solabia Repositions for Core Markets
Pan-European private equity firm Astorg announced a strategic repositioning for its portfolio company, Solabia. The ingredient supplier plans to divest its microbiology diagnostics division. This move allows Solabia to concentrate on its core markets: cosmetics, nutrition, and life sciences. To lead this new phase, Muriel Koch has been appointed President and CEO.
This shift aims to sharpen the company's market approach and pursue growth opportunities in its key segments, according to statements from Astorg.
Muriel Koch Takes Leadership Role
Muriel Koch brings over three decades of leadership experience to Solabia. Her background spans cosmetics, nutrition, and consumer markets. She spent more than 20 years in senior roles at Nestlé across Europe and Asia. Most recently, Ms. Koch served as CEO of Groupe NUXE, where she drove international expansion and modernization efforts.
She succeeds Jean-Baptiste Dellon, who led Solabia as President and CEO for the past four and a half years. Ms. Koch will collaborate with Solabia's Executive Committee and Astorg to achieve the company's growth ambitions, stating her goal is to make Solabia a global reference in natural and biotech active ingredients.
Divestment to Oxoid Remel Microbiology
Under the proposed transaction, Solabia's microbiology diagnostics division will be acquired by Oxoid Remel Microbiology. This entity is also a portfolio company of Astorg, acquired in August 2026.
The proposed combination aims to integrate complementary capabilities in microbiology diagnostics, establishing a stronger platform for continued development and international expansion. Astorg partners Nicolas Marien and Paul Arhanchiague stated that the divestment allows Solabia to sharpen its focus and pursue new growth opportunities within its remaining core areas.
Implications for Asia's Beauty Sector
Solabia's intensified focus on natural and biotech active ingredients under Muriel Koch’s leadership presents direct implications for Asia's beauty industry. Ms. Koch's extensive prior experience in Asia, particularly during her two decades at Nestlé, suggests a deep understanding of the region's market trends and consumer demands.
Asian beauty brands and contract manufacturers increasingly seeking sustainable and scientifically backed ingredients may find Solabia a more targeted and responsive partner for innovative formulations. This strategic pivot could lead to enhanced ingredient offerings and collaboration opportunities within the region, particularly as demand for advanced natural actives grows.
