Amorepacific, South Korea, deploys AI research assistant Lemon for R&D efficiency
South Korean beauty company Amorepacific has introduced Lemon, an AI research assistant developed with KT. The tool centralizes decades of data, aiming to reduce cosmetic product development timelines by automating information retrieval for R&D teams.

AI Tool Centralizes Decades of Data
Amorepacific, South Korea's largest beauty company, released Lemon, an AI research assistant, on July 28, 2026. Developed in collaboration with KT (Korea Telecom), Lemon (Lab Efficiency Mode ON) aims to shorten internal R&D periods for cosmetic products. The system organizes over 70 years of previously disaggregated beauty data.
This allows Amorepacific researchers to find information via a single integrated platform, streamlining data access and analysis.
Significant Reductions in Research Timelines
Tests conducted at Amorepacific's R&I Centre demonstrate notable time reductions. Tasks involving research material and regulatory review during the product planning phase, which previously took about 12 days, were completed in roughly five minutes.
The time needed to review an ingredient's research history and its applicability to products also decreased from approximately six days to around five minutes. Researchers can now search and analyze materials required for R&D, production, quality control, and regulatory response tasks. The system also offers new exploration and suggestion capabilities during the research process.
Strategic Focus on Creative Research
Amorepacific plans to expand its digital transformation in the R&D field, including further integration of AI agents. This initiative seeks to reduce repetitive information search tasks for researchers. Suh Byung-hwi, head of Amorepacific's R&I Centre, stated the project shows Amorepacific’s commitment to modernizing its research environment for the AI era.
The company’s goal is to enable researchers to focus on creative activities, such as establishing new hypotheses and fostering technological innovation. For the Asian beauty market, this move by a major player like Amorepacific reveals a growing industry trend towards using AI to accelerate product development cycles.
This could prompt other regional brands to invest in similar technologies to maintain competitive development speeds and respond faster to evolving market demands.
