Anton Paar Introduces New Nanoindentation Range

Anton Paar, a developer of laboratory instruments, has released its new UNHT Series of nanoindentation systems. The launch, announced on October 9, 2026, aims to provide more reliable material characterization results, streamline workflows, and offer greater adaptability across various material types.

This next-generation technology is designed to enhance the precision and efficiency of mechanical property analysis for research and development, as well as quality control.

Precision Measurement and Workflow Improvements

A central feature of the UNHT Series is its direct measurement concept, which references the sample surface. This method helps to minimize the effects of thermal drift and instrument compliance, reducing the need for post-measurement corrections.

Pavel Sedmak, Product Manager for the UNHT series at Anton Paar, stated that reliable nanoindentation relies on both measurement resolution and effective control of influencing factors. The company focused on integrating surface-referenced measurement with quicker processes and expanded measurement capabilities to ensure data confidence.

Specialized Systems for Diverse Materials

The series includes two specialized models. The UNHT 700 caters to demanding, high-performance applications, offering high-speed indentation, advanced mapping, and positioning accuracy down to 100 nanometers. It also features scanning probe microscopy (SPM) imaging and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) up to 300 Hz, facilitating detailed characterization of complex materials.

For soft and biological substances, the UNHT 300 Bio provides a dedicated solution for testing tissues, hydrogels, scaffolds, and polymers, supporting advanced DMA measurements up to 300 Hz, adhesion evaluation, and automated contact detection.

Implications for Asia's Beauty Economy

For Asia's beauty and personal care industry, these new nanoindentation systems could significantly advance material science for product development.

Brands and manufacturers working with novel ingredients, advanced delivery systems, or sustainable packaging materials, particularly those involving hydrogels or biopolymers, can gain more precise insights into mechanical properties.

This precision helps refine product formulation, assess texture, and validate performance claims, potentially accelerating the development cycle for new cosmetic and aesthetic products across the region.
