Symrise Expands Grasse Operations for Naturals

Symrise has expanded its production capabilities for natural fragrance ingredients in Grasse, southern France. The company recently inaugurated a new facility for its Lautier 1795 brand, aiming to enhance its offerings in natural raw materials for perfumers globally.

This development integrates the recently acquired premium natural qualities from Floral Concept, reinforcing Symrise's presence in the region. Michael Friede, President of Symrise's Scent & Care segment, stated that combining these natural capabilities creates new opportunities in fragrance ingredients.

Integrating Expertise in Southern France

The new Grasse site is a key part of Symrise's broader fragrance network in southern France. It combines Lautier 1795's two centuries of specialist knowledge in sourcing and transforming natural raw materials with Floral Concept's expertise. The network also includes SFA Neroli's creative capabilities.

This expanded infrastructure aims to deepen local know-how and strengthen connections within the Grasse ecosystem. The goal is to transform natural raw materials into distinct ingredients for perfumers worldwide, connecting local expertise with Symrise's global resources.

Enhancing Creative Choice for Perfumers

Symrise claims this integrated approach provides customers with greater creative choice, consistent product quality, and improved traceability for natural fragrance materials. It also offers specialist expertise to perfumers.

According to the company, closer collaboration among growers, sourcing partners, ingredient experts, perfumers, and customers helps translate market needs and creative ideas into new ingredients more quickly.

For perfumers, this expansion opens up fresh possibilities to explore the olfactive richness of natural ingredients and incorporate them into contemporary fragrance creations.

Asia's Sourcing Implications from Grasse Expansion

This expansion in Grasse, a historical center for perfumery, could influence sourcing strategies for Asian beauty brands seeking high-quality natural fragrance ingredients. As Symrise aims to accelerate innovation and customer collaboration, Asian cosmetics manufacturers and fragrance houses may find a broader selection of traceable natural raw materials becoming available.

This could allow for more diverse and sustainable product development, potentially affecting the ingredient portfolios of major Asian players like Shiseido or Amorepacific as they look to differentiate premium fragrance lines by early 2027.
