Givaudan Exceeds Forecasts With CHF 5.89 Billion Sales
Swiss ingredient supplier Givaudan reported sales of CHF 5.89 billion for the first nine months of 2026, surpassing analyst forecasts with a 5.2% like-for-like increase.

Givaudan Exceeds Analyst Expectations
Swiss fragrance, flavor, and ingredient manufacturer Givaudan announced sales of CHF 5.89 billion for the first nine months of 2026, covering January to September. This figure represents a 5.2% increase on a like-for-like basis, which excludes currency effects and acquisitions.
The company's performance exceeded the CHF 5.78 billion forecast by analysts surveyed by Swiss news agency AWP. Sales grew by 2.6% in Swiss francs. Growth showed significant acceleration in the third quarter of 2026, with sales rising 8.6% like-for-like to CHF 2.09 billion, primarily propelled by strong results in fine fragrance.
Strong Performance in Fragrance Segments
Givaudan's Perfumery and Beauty business recorded a 13.5% sales increase over the nine-month period. Fine fragrance sales, a significant driver within this division, climbed by 15.3%. This growth occurred despite a high comparison base, following five years of strong expansion since the post-Covid recovery.
Functional fragrance, which encompasses applications such as personal care products, laundry detergents, and household cleaners, also advanced by 9.3%. Conversely, the Beauty Care segment experienced a 2.5% decline in sales during the same timeframe. The company's Taste and Wellbeing division posted a 3.5% increase, improving from 0.5% growth in the first half of 2026.
Analyst Insights and Strategic Moves
Industry analysts acknowledged Givaudan's robust results, particularly the strength in fine fragrance. Daniel Bürki, an analyst at Zürcher Kantonalbank, noted that Givaudan achieved its expected growth acceleration in the third quarter, including in its Taste and Wellbeing segment, which had recently shown stagnation.
Bürki specifically highlighted fine fragrance as the primary positive surprise.
Arben Hasanaj, an analyst at Vontobel, commented that the Taste and Wellbeing division appears to be "turning a corner" and affirmed fragrance as the group's "star business." Givaudan also reaffirmed its medium- to long-term target of 4% to 6% annual like-for-like sales growth through 2030 and confirmed implementing price increases to counteract rising raw material costs.
In early June, Givaudan acquired a stake in Eurofragance, a Barcelona-based fragrance manufacturer, further strengthening its perfumery activities; the transaction value was not disclosed.
Implications for Asia's Beauty Economy
Givaudan's strong performance in fine and functional fragrances signals sustained consumer demand in these categories, a trend with direct implications for Asian beauty brands and manufacturers. The 15.3% growth in fine fragrance for the first nine months of 2026 indicates opportunities for Asian fragrance houses to innovate and expand their product lines.
Conversely, the 2.5% decline in Beauty Care sales suggests a potential shift in consumer preferences or market dynamics that Asian personal care brands should analyze. For ingredient sourcing, Givaudan's strategic acquisition of a stake in Eurofragance could influence supply dynamics and ingredient availability for Asian formulators seeking new perfumery components.
This ongoing investment in fragrance capabilities reinforces the segment's importance for global ingredient suppliers, impacting product development cycles and market competition in Asia.
