Naolys Strengthens Asia Presence

Naolys, a French company specializing in plant cell biotechnology, has expanded its distribution network across key Asian markets. The company confirmed two new partnerships designed to bring its active ingredient portfolio closer to beauty brands in South Korea and Southeast Asia.

These collaborations aim to accelerate the adoption of Naolys’ biotechnology in regional product formulations. Naolys has operated for over two decades, focusing on developing living biotechnologies for cosmetic applications.

The strategic expansion reflects a push to deepen market penetration in two of Asia’s most active beauty economies, leveraging local expertise and distribution channels.

South Korea Distribution via The Shine

In South Korea, Naolys has appointed The Shine as the exclusive distributor for its Plant Cell and ExoCell® active ingredient ranges. This partnership reinforces Naolys' presence in a market known for beauty innovation. The Shine will provide South Korean beauty brands with local access to Naolys’ biotechnology portfolio.

This includes the ExoCell® innovation Aethelis Granata, as well as its patented Plant Cell active ingredients. Naolys stated that The Shine combines scientific expertise with local market knowledge and customer support, aligning with its strategy for strong collaborations.

Southeast Asia Expansion with Behn Meyer

For Southeast Asia, Naolys is collaborating with Behn Meyer to broaden the reach of its biotechnology portfolio across Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. Behn Meyer will offer formulators and beauty brands dedicated technical support and access to Naolys’ latest innovations, including Firm Perfection (Hibiscus)².

Naolys noted Behn Meyer’s strong regional presence and expertise in specialty ingredients. This partnership extends the availability of Naolys’ patented biotechnology throughout these five Southeast Asian markets, aiming to streamline ingredient sourcing for local manufacturers.

Implications for Regional Beauty Formulators

These distribution agreements mean beauty brands and formulators in South Korea and the specified Southeast Asian countries will gain more direct access to Naolys' advanced active ingredients. This could simplify supply chains and potentially reduce lead times for incorporating novel biotechnological components into new product development.

The move also highlights a trend among global ingredient suppliers to establish stronger, localized support systems in Asia. For regional brands, this offers new options for differentiating formulations and meeting consumer demand for advanced ingredient claims, directly from a local partner rather than through international channels.
