SharkNinja Expands Creator Programs, Offers 15% Commissions
SharkNinja introduced "First Fans" for its 4,100 global employees and "SharkNinja Storytellers" for consumers on October 20, aiming to boost holiday shopping content engagement.

New Creator Initiatives Launched
SharkNinja launched two new creator programs on October 20, designed to broaden its content generation for holiday shopping. The "First Fans" program targets the company's more than 4,100 global employees, while "SharkNinja Storytellers" is an affiliate initiative for consumers.
These programs complement existing partnerships with celebrities, macro and mid-tier influencers, and affiliates, including those operating through TikTok Shop. The company seeks to integrate both internal expertise and everyday consumer experiences into its marketing efforts, offering various rewards and commissions for participation.
Commission Structure and Eligibility
The "SharkNinja Storytellers" program provides commissions ranging from 8% to 15% for product recommendations. Everyday creators can earn 8–10% for content such as unboxings and reviews, while professional creators, including stylists and estheticians, may receive 8–12% and access to paid briefs and masterclasses. An invitation-only VIP tier offers 12–15% commission.
To qualify for the consumer program, applicants must reside in the U.S. and possess at least 1,000 total followers. The "First Fans" employee program offers training, content prompts, and commissions to eligible staff, encouraging participation from diverse departments like engineering and research and development.
Strategy Beyond Follower Count
Stacy Carpenter, SharkNinja's Senior Vice President of Global Social Media, stated the company is shifting its focus from follower numbers to business impact. She cited an example of an oil-field worker whose video featuring the Shark FacialPro Glow, an at-home facial cleansing and exfoliating device, garnered over 10 million views.
Carpenter noted that authentic, unexpected content showcasing product effectiveness drives engagement. The company reported generating over 19 billion impressions from more than 200,000 posts this year, indicating a strong existing content presence.
SharkNinja intends to prompt creators to develop holiday wish lists, storefronts, and gift-guide challenges, potentially featuring customer-created guides on its homepage.
Implications for Asia's Beauty Brands
While the "SharkNinja Storytellers" program is currently restricted to U.S. applicants, the global scope of the "First Fans" employee initiative and the company's broader creator strategy offer insights for Asia's beauty industry.
Asian beauty brands, particularly those with direct-to-consumer models or international expansion goals, may consider adopting similar strategies to integrate internal expertise and diverse consumer voices into their content.
This approach could enhance authentic product demonstrations and engagement, potentially inspiring localized creator programs in markets like South Korea or Japan, where social commerce and user-generated content are key drivers for beauty product discovery and sales.
