Silgan Dispensing Provides Refillable Pump for Guerlain Concentrate
The 30 ml SP34 pump bottle supports Guerlain's new Longevity Concentrate in its Orchidée Impériale range, designed for complex cosmetic formulations.

Guerlain Selects Silgan Pump for New Product
Silgan Dispensing collaborated with Guerlain on the packaging for the new Longevity Concentrate, part of the Orchidée Impériale collection. This partnership focused on developing a 30 ml refillable pump bottle. A primary technical challenge involved ensuring the pump's compatibility with the product’s intricate formula.
This formulation includes numerous active ingredients, some derived from the Vanda coerulea orchid, which are encapsulated within billions of liposomes. The packaging solution needed to maintain the integrity and stability of these sensitive components throughout the product's use.
SP34 Pump Meets Compatibility Standards
Guerlain chose Silgan's SP34 pump for this application, building on its established performance within the existing Orchidée Impériale line. The pump underwent rigorous testing to ensure it met all required compatibility standards, receiving full approval for its reliability and durability. A key feature of the SP34 pump is its bayonet attachment system.
This design allows consumers to easily detach the pump from the bottle, facilitating the refilling process for the product. This mechanism supports both user convenience and the product's refillable format.
Packaging for Complex Formulations
The development emphasizes packaging solutions that can handle advanced cosmetic formulations. The Longevity Concentrate's complex ingredient profile, with its orchid-derived actives and liposome delivery system, necessitated a pump that could ensure consistent product delivery without compromising formula efficacy.
The refillable aspect of the 30 ml bottle also aligns with current consumer preferences for sustainable packaging. This approach allows brands to offer high-performance products while addressing environmental considerations through reusable components.
Implications for Asia's Packaging Sector
This collaboration highlights trends relevant to Asia's beauty economy, particularly in packaging innovation. The demand for refillable formats, coupled with the need for compatibility with sophisticated active ingredients, points to a growth area for packaging manufacturers across the region.
Asian suppliers may see increased requests for dispensing systems that support complex skincare formulations and offer easy refilling mechanisms. Brands in markets such as South Korea and Japan, known for their advanced cosmetic science and focus on eco-conscious solutions, could drive further adoption of similar high-performance, sustainable packaging designs.
