Sol de Janeiro Partners Channel 4 for Five-Part Micro Drama
Fragrance brand Sol de Janeiro, owned by L’Occitane, will launch "The Guest List," a five-part digital series, on UK broadcaster Channel 4's social platforms from 24 October.

New Digital Campaign for Fragrance Mists
Sol de Janeiro, the fragrance brand under L’Occitane, is collaborating with UK broadcaster Channel 4 to release "The Guest List," a new five-part micro drama series. This digital campaign aims to promote Sol de Janeiro's Intense Perfume Mists, which debuted in August.
The series will be available from 24 October across Channel 4’s social media channels, including TikTok, YouTube, and Meta platforms. Produced by Curly Media, the initiative seeks to redefine conventional beauty content by engaging consumers through short-form, character-driven narratives.
Character-Led Storytelling and Fragrance Essence
"The Guest List" features British actresses Deba Hekmat, Jadesola Odunjo, Mia Ito Smith, and Felicity Ali, whose characters are designed to embody the essence of Sol de Janeiro's new richer scents. These include Cheirosa 62, Cheirosa 59, Cheirosa 91, and the new Cheirosa 74, described as a golden gourmand with notes of ripe pineapple, orange flower, and solar ambery accord.
The series explores themes of modern friendship, confidence, self-expression, and the experiences of young adults, unfolding through intimate group chat conversations that capture contemporary womanhood.
Executive Commentary on Content Strategy
Rebecca Pollard, Director of Marketing & Consumer Engagement for Sol de Janeiro in the UK and Ireland, stated the brand's goal is to challenge traditional beauty content and celebrate confidence and connection. She noted the series aims to create something unexpected and culturally relevant for its community.
Ameenah Taher, Digital Commissioning Executive at Channel 4, added that the broadcaster seeks to anticipate evolving audience and storytelling trends. Taher expressed pride in commissioning Channel 4's first branded micro drama, developed with Curly Media, as a bold exploration of young women's lives.
Implications for Digital Beauty Marketing
This collaboration between Sol de Janeiro and Channel 4 illustrates a growing trend in beauty marketing: leveraging short-form digital dramas and character-led narratives to foster deeper consumer engagement. For beauty brands in Asia, this approach signals a shift towards more immersive storytelling beyond traditional product advertisements.
Brands targeting Gen Z and younger demographics may consider integrating similar micro-drama formats on platforms like TikTok and YouTube to build emotional connections and facilitate product discovery.
Developing content that reflects contemporary social dynamics and personal narratives could offer a distinct way to introduce new fragrance lines or cosmetic collections to a digitally native audience.
