Panpuri Enters Mainland China Market

Thai fragrance brand Panpuri has opened its first Mainland China retail location. The new store is situated in Shanghai’s HKRI Taikoo Hui. This launch marks a step in Panpuri’s wider retail expansion across Asia. The company stated its intention to open 16 stores throughout Asia in 2026.

This strategy follows a regional growth plan announced in May of this year, building on the brand’s existing footprint in the region. The Shanghai store offers Panpuri’s full range of fragrance, home ambiance, and body care products to the Chinese market. It also provides in-store services such as fragrance personalization and gift-wrapping.

Brand Heritage and Product Focus

Founded in 2003 by Thai entrepreneur Vorravit Siripark, Panpuri draws inspiration from traditional Thai oil rituals. The brand claims its products combine fragrance with skincare and wellbeing benefits. Panpuri’s product portfolio includes distinct lines for personal fragrance, home scenting, and body care.

The new Shanghai location aims to present these offerings directly to consumers. The brand's retail approach emphasizes a curated presentation of its goods and services. This expansion aligns with a broader trend of Asian premium brands seeking to grow their presence in key regional markets.

Strategic Market Focus in Asia

Panpuri’s expansion strategy prioritizes specific urban centers in major Asian markets. In China, the initial focus for new store openings will be Shanghai and Beijing. For Japan, the company plans to begin its entry in Tokyo before moving into other principal cities. Vorravit Siripark previously stated that both Japan and China are important markets for the brand.

Siripark noted that consumers in these markets appreciate craftsmanship, detail, atmosphere, and emotional connection, values Panpuri aims to align with its brand identity. This targeted approach reveals a focus on high-value consumer segments in dense urban areas.

Implications for Asia's Premium Beauty Sector

Panpuri's targeted expansion into Shanghai, Beijing, and Tokyo demonstrates a strategy for luxury fragrance and body care brands in Asia. Other premium beauty brands considering market entry or expansion in these regions should note the emphasis on specific urban hubs and the reported consumer preference for craftsmanship and personalized retail services.

The plan to open 16 stores across Asia this year shows a commitment to physical retail presence, even as e-commerce grows. This approach suggests that for certain high-end categories, a strong in-store retail experience remains a key component of brand building and market penetration in discerning Asian markets.
